Post Care Advice –
Water:
It is extremely important to rehydrate your tissues by drinking at least 3 to 4 glasses of water over the remaining hours of the day directly following your massage, even a brief massage will benefit from increased water intake.
Water acts as a vehicle for the removal of circulating waste products that have been released from your tissues into the blood stream. Efficient removal of these waste products prevents their ability to irritate other soft tissue structures in the body (muscles/Nerves/Organs). Even the gentlest massage can release many toxins into your system.
After Effects:
You may feel more tired, achy, emotional or even irritated within 48 hours of your treatment. This discomfort is a result of therapeutic inflammation and the release of accumulated waste products from congested tissues into your system.
Your body will be processing and removing these waste products during this period. You may experience a range of emotions following treatment to your soft tissues both positive & negative. However this process of rehabilitating normally passes relatively quickly.
Physical Exercise:
In some instances rest and limitation of strenuous activity may be advisable for 12 to 48 hours after treatment to soft tissues.
Please try to be aware of any actions, positions or activities that aggravate or ease any discomfort felt between treatments.
Full Recovery:
As you feel a reduction or cessation of pain after your treatment please understand that when rehabilitating soft tissues, certain steps should be followed before returning to your normal work/exercise routine. Failure to follow these steps may cause re-injury and psychological setbacks.
Whilst you may not feel pain in your muscles, dysfunction may still present, adequate time and care must be allowed to avoid re-entering the pain cycle.
